Set Up New Subdomain
Estimated Time of Completion: 2 hours
A subdomain is a domain that is part of the larger domain or website you currently have.
So, think about your current domain – something like www.abccompany.com right?
Well, a subdomain is where you set-up a new version of the www. And instead of using www. You could use something like members.abccompany.com or shop.abccompany.com.
The reason you would want to do this is because each subdomain is seen as a new website essentially. So if you have your main website on www. You could then have an online training portal set-up on members.abccompany.com which could have wordpress on it and other things. This wouldn’t impact the www. Main website at all.
Then, if you use ClickFunnels, you might want to set that up on another domain so all those landing pages might sit on hub. Or register. Or something like that.
You’ll basically need to request this task if you’re wanting to build a membership portal or if you’re wanting to use ClickFunnels on your own domain. This is all done inside your hosting platform.
TO BRIEF YOUR DOER:
- If you're utilising the Project Management Tool; *Basecamp, add this as a task to your project's To Do's
- You'll need to describe the task. We'd recommend 'Set Up New Subdomain: MF0016'
- Assign the To Do to your Doer
- Set a Due Date
- Add notes:
- You can provide your Doer with this URL in order to provide them with context on the task
- List the domain you'd like the subdomain created on (eg. mycompany.com)
- Advise what you would like the subdomain to be (eg. hub, training, portal, members, register)
- Add in any other notes or requirements that might be relevant and ensure your Doer has access to your hosting logins in order to set up your subdomain
- Don't assume - particularly if you're just starting out with your Doer it's always best to provide as much information as possible. If you have extensive notes, we'd recommend recording a Loom.
