Make Connections & Source Leads on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is such a powerful tool for business...
If utilised correctly, it can strengthen your credibility, expand your network, increase your online presence and most importantly; generate leads.
Your Doer has access to training by a business growth and lead generation expert who has taught them the fundamentals of LinkedIn and how to leverage the platform as a source for Inbound Leads.
Not sure where to start? Watch the training video below on the fundamentals and how you can set up a profile to boost connections.
You can then have your Doer reach out to prospective leads on an ongoing basis and track these connections in a spreadsheet. (We'll be telling you how and why below...)
What you need to outsource this task...
1. Provide your Doer with a VPN
We recommend using a VPN in order to effectively outsource this task ongoing.
A VPN simply allows your Outsourced Doer to "look" like they are in the same country as you. There are several options to sourcing a VPN. You can do a simple Google search and find many options (including reviews etc.). You don't need a corporate VPN, and if choosing a paid option - most good providers charge around $50 a year.
2. Get LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Your Doer will need to use the LinkedIn Sales Navigator in order to do your lead generation. You can access a one month free trial of the feature prior to moving over to a paid version.
3. Provide Filter Information for a Targeted Search
The filters we recommend applying to conduct a targeted lead search are the below...
- Geography (eg. Sydney)
- Industry (eg. Professional Training & Coaching)
- Company size (eg. 11-50)
- Job title (eg. CEO)
Ensure you let your Doer know the above information so they can know what to filter by for an optimised search.
4. Use THIS Spreadsheet*
Why a spreadsheet?
This can be used so that you can see what conversations are taking place and jump in/talk to the leads.
At a certain point, the conversation should move away from your Doer and to you/your sales team so you can convert that connection from a lead to a client.
*To edit, make a copy of the spreadsheet and store in your shared drive
To Brief Your Doer:
- If you're utilising the Project Management Tool; *Basecamp, add this as a task to your project's To Do's
- You'll need to describe the task. We'd recommend 'Make Connections & Source Leads on LinkedIn: SM0026'
- Assign the To-Do to your Doer
- Set a Due Date or advise if this will be a daily/weekly ongoing task
- Provide your Doer with LinkedIn access via your Password Management Tool (eg. LastPass)
- Ensure you have an active free trial or paid version of Sales Navigator
- Add notes:
- You can provide your Doer with this URL in order to provide them with context on the task
- In the notes, advise your Doer of the filtered search information and templates of responses they can use to reach out to leads.
Here's an example of a message template. Revise this so that it suits your tone, business and the contacts they'll be reaching out to...
"Hey {{name}}, it looks like your profile came up for me as a “suggested connection”.
Since we seem to do some work in the same space/industry ({{industry}} to be exact), and to keep the LinkedIn gods happy (ha!) - I thought I’d see if it’s ok to connect with you on here?"
- If you have extensive notes, we'd recommend recording a Loom
