Set-up Portal (Wordpress / Learndash)
Estimated Time of Completion: 5-7 days (Subject to Founder's content)
Please note that this is just the template with a default course and content. A complete template will be subject to the content that you- as the founder provides.
When it comes to building an online portal, we love using Learndash ourselves which is an online portal builder that in our opinion, is the most affordable, flexible, feature rich, user-friendly and easy to manage ongoing.
Learndash has thousands of add-ons and features that you can find on their website but all the basic inclusions that come with the standard edition are awesome.
Learndash starts at $159 USD per year and can be cancelled at any time. Learndash is WordPress friendly so it just sits on WordPress which is free. Remember, even if you don’t have your normal website on WordPress, that’s just the www. So you can set-up a subdomain, perhaps members., and add WordPress and your new portal on that.
Additionally, we love the Woffice template which has this wonderful layout with good-looking registration pages, the easy to navigate menu, the lovely header and footer sections and more.
So, your Doer is able to set-up your WordPress, add Learndash to it and then add a Woffice template to that so that it’s ready to customise.
TO BRIEF YOUR DOER:
- If you're utilising the Project Management Tool; *Basecamp, add this as a task to your project's To Do's
- You'll need to describe the task. We'd recommend 'Set Up Membership Portal Template: OCP0016'
- Assign the To Do to your Doer
- Set a Due Date
- Add notes:
- You can provide your Doer with this URL in order to provide them with context on the task.
- Advise your Doer of the website URL/Domain
- Let your Doer know the subdomain you would like your portal set up on (eg. hub.abccompany.com OR members.abccompany.com OR portal.abccompany.com)
- Tell your Doer the name of the online portal
- Ensure you have shared access/the logins to Learndash and your website hosting
- Add in any other notes or requirements that might be relevant.
- Don't assume - particularly if you're just starting out with your Doer it's always best to provide as much information as possible. If you have extensive notes, we'd recommend recording a Loom.
